Closing TimeClosing Time is a telephone helpline for anyone who has an emotional relationship to his or her city.
During one hour, visitors are guided through changes in the cityscape while the operator gives each visitor the opportunity to reflect upon how their life choices are manifested in the city. The call ends with a memorial ceremony where opera singers give voice to honour what have been lost.
Closing Time was originally produced for the city of Gothenburg, and has since then been re-staged in Stockholm, Santiago de Chile and Umeå, each time with the sincere aim to offer care for the specific losses of each individual city and visitor.
Co-produced by: MAP – Mobile Art Production in collaboration with Stora Teatern.
Closing Time was performed at Sagateatern as a part of gestaltningsprojektet Vasaplan in Umeå (Sweden) 12th -23rd of September 2014.
